Good. For I'm about to indulge in a most unseemly amount of whooping, hollering and general showing-offness for a woman of my mature years !
Guess what ? SANTA TOOK THE HINT - BIG TIME :0) !!!!!
Remember this hint ? Well, just look what I opened up on Christmas morning ....
Do you know ? I think Al really loves me - either that or he got fed up with having his ear nipped about this for the last 2 years !
Mine is in Limpet and Driftwood - a lovely purpley, inky colour with a contrast of rosy, browny, lilacy - well, driftwood colour, I suppose.
Santa was also clearly colluding with my Dad. I'm assaulting the postie on a daily basis as Dad ordered me this for Christmas ....

Mermaid by Hanne Falkenberg. I can't wait for this one to arrive :0)
Speaking of lovely things that came by post. See what else I got ! (How good a Christmas did I have ? !)
The yarn on the bottom is Cherry Tree Hill Supersock in Old Rose - and was a gift from Emma, my kind and generous friend - with which to make the Fan the Flames scarf designed by Sue at Get Knitted.
The yarn on top is a skein of Alchemy Yarns Silk Purse in the Pale Blue Eyes shade. I bought this using some Christmas money - a gift from Jim, Alan's father - and I'm going to team it with some of this to make myself this
Every girl needs to be a Femme Fatale sometimes don't ya think ?
Anyway, Hogmanay approaches rapidly and I've a fair amount of cleaning to get through (tradition says you must start the year with a clean house otherwise it will be dirty all year - so that's where I've been going wrong !) I'll leave you with the progress so far ....
Tune in next time viewers for "Adventures in Steek Land" - yikes !
HAPPY NEW YEAR !
I told you that every present was bought / knitted, wrapped and tagged, every decoration pinned up, every room tidied and hoovered, every make-in-advance-bit-of-cookery cooked - you'd believe me, wouldn't you ?? Nah. I didn't think you were that easy to fool.
I'm sliding rapidly towards that hideous, less than 2 weeks 'til Christmas, hyper ventilating, screaming at husband and kids all day, every day, state of mind. Isn't Christmas great ? Me ? I'd prefer to keep my sanity.
Naturally given my state of almost total unpreparedness and blind panic, I have opted to do the sensible thing and spend time arsing about making it snow my blog (which I suspect you will only see if you are using Internet Explorer as your browser ?) - glass of red in hand. I may even treat myself to my favourite (kept for Christmas only 'cos I can neck an entire bottle in an embarrassingly short time ;0)) treat next ....... except naturally, being in my current state of unpreparedness, I haven't bought it yet !
I have been indulging in an, ahem, teeny, tiny amount of online shopping (the Post Office is threatening to sue for injuries to posties :0)) and the odd skein or 2 may have slipped in amongst the parcels - purely as a little stress relief you understand ?

It being the season of goodwill, I'm not keeping all of this - probably - and will be giving most of it - maybe - away as gifts - possibly ......... but don't quote me on it !
my true love gave to me ....... a right good talking to for being stuuuuuuupid enough to agree to work the equivalent of twice my normal working week, 3 weeks before Christmas. It's just as well I love my job (mainly !), I must have been out of my proverbial TINY MIND.
And yes, I know, by comparison with those of you who work full time ALL the time I should stop complaining - but I haven't worked full time for 5 years since my middle daughter was a toddler, so it's a shock to the system when I do from time to time !
Anyway, the result of this has been teeny, weeny, tiddly amounts of knitting I'm afraid :0( I have done a little secret sewing............. and a little so-incredibly-easy-knitting-that-I'm-almost-embarrassed-to-show-you

(Plain garter stitch scarf in Rowan Soft Baby, trimmed with ancient from stash Rowan Designer DK - a Christmas present for my 3 year old)
and a teeny, toaty, little bit more knitting on my Noro Silk Garden Cabled Hoodie

I'm hoping to finish this for Christmas (HA ! HA !) - but other than that, nothing much.
I did start start my eBay destashing (there's a link in the sidebar) and I'm trying to stick with that, so next week (hopefully !) I'll be listing some more yarn and some books ............ all to make room for Christmas knitting presents (ARE YOU LISTENING AL ????? !)
