Hot Toddy

Now that the weather has turned autumnal (in this part of the world anyway !) I thought we might need warming up with some hot'n spicy WIP's .........

About a year ago, a lot of blogs were full of mention of the "Must Have Cardigan", so I got me a copy of the Street Smart Pattern book but you know what ? I preferred the Cabled Hoodie - so that's what this is minus the bobbles 'cos I don't really like bobbles.

I started it at my weekend meetup with the gals in Edinburgh and I am ADDICTED. I cannot put it down. I think it's the yarn. I'm using Noro Silk Garden in Shade 84 which Kay sent me a while back to reknit my 3 sizes too big Butterfly but I decided to try something different with it. I'm knitting the 2 fronts and back together, aiming to keep the striping reasonably regular and so far so good :0)

Not hot enough for you ? Try this on for size ....

Don't you just love the fabulous cables on the Rogue Hoodie ? This will (hopefully !) be a Christmas gift for a certain someone and is knitted in my eBay bargain DB Cotton Silk Aran.

Turn the heat up another notch ??

How about my current favourite scarf ?? I made me another Wilo but this time using 1½ balls of Debbie Bliss Maya in Shade 10. Scorching !

Phew ! Let's cool it down. At my fun-filled weekend get together with the girls, Rowanette Theresa was wearing the most gorgeous little KSH cardigan. So gorgeous that I couldn't believe I'd overlooked it in the Rowan book it was in. All I can say is the picture in the magazine does not do this justice - in the yarn, it's about 100 times more fabulous :0)

Can you guess what happened next ? Yep. I checked the stash ..... only to find that I had nearly, but not quite, enough of this to knit it. Yet another windfall from Kay ! I don't deserve her you know ;0) Anyway, overcame that problem by buying a couple of balls of this - I think they look pretty good together.

Almost the same but just very subtle variation so with the Rowan Kidsilk Spray as the border I think it could look quite interesting.

Of course, that wasn't the yarn I intended to buy. Oh no. What I really went for was this ...

Seems a bit tame ? Ah, but not once it turns into this

I want to dance on the beach too ...... tho' actually on most Scottish beaches in the Winter I'd be too busy freezing my arse off. Just as well I've got a lot of winter woolies on the go :0)

BTW - did I mention I finally got my replacement digital camera from the insurers ???

Filling In

Still no camera (hopefully this weekend that'll be sorted !) so I've been trawling for other things and have shamelessly nicked this from Lynette - but , hey she nicked it too :0)

Google your name+ the word "needs", and see what you get.

Heather needs...

1. A rest - Oh yeah ! You'd better believe it. Just as well I'm on holiday for the next week :0)))))

2. Two therapists - ehm, potentially. Though I think the rest might do away with the need for these ???

3. To find the right balance between emotions and logic - Now wait a minute. There's a bit of a theme building up here, I'm starting to feel got at ...

4. To start wearing a brassiere - that is going too far !! Good grief ! If I didn't they'd be halfway to my knees by now !!

5. To decipher the alien message - okay. Enough. This is just getting silly.

I prefer what my alter-ego Dolly needs ...

1. A ride to LA today - sounds good. Will I like it when I get there ?

2. Bouffant hair - absolutely ! Doesn't every girl ??

3. To be refined - I take exception to that. I AM refined. Ain't I ??

4. A total hip replacement - hey ! Less of the age jokes ...

5. A loving new owner - any offers ? No ?

I could play this game for HOURS ! But I won't.

Instead I'll tell you where I'm going tomorrow :0) Tomorrow is a BIG knitting day - YAHOO !!

A new yarn shop is opening in Glasgow and the Glasgow SnB group are getting a sneak preview ! But it gets better ....

After calling in there, some of us West coast girls (me, India and Kathleen) are heading East to Edinburgh for a knittin'drinkin'eatin'meetin' with Nancy and the infamous Scotty Jill at the fabulous HK Handknits. Sadly Julie, the lovely owner, won't be there as she's off to NYC for the weekend (how glam is that ?) - so if you see her say Hi !

I have it on good authority that she may have some of the new Louisa Harding yarns in stock and I can't wait ! All that fondling to look forward to ...... only one more sleep ........

No Show and Tell

I am still a digital camera short of a blog entry ... either that or a sandwich short of a picnic ... something like that.

Insurance companies clearly operate in 2 different modes. The super, zippy, blink and you missed us mode with which they part you from your annual premium - and the drip drip drip chinese water torture pace with which they process any actual claim you have the gall to make on your policy.

I have been knitting, honest. I just can't prove it. Although I want to get on with some of my WIP's I've gone instead into knitted gift mode and been working on

"three one skein wonders"
"two baby bootees"
one Rogue in thiiiiis ..... and a partridge in a pear tree."

Okay, I lied about the partridge but you can see where this is all leading can't you ?

Hopefully all will be back to normal soon tho' as we did actually hear from our insurers today so who knows, I may have some genuine finished objects to show by the time the camera arrives :0)

In the meantime can I distract you with this

historyViolence_viggo1.jpg

Strange hair cut aside, what can I say. Be still my beating loins ...sorry HEART. I meant HEART. Hubba, hubba.

History of Violence was the film of choice for our 12th anniversary night out last weekend - and who says romance is dead ? ;0) ......... Eh, that would be me, actually.

The giveaway for the death of romance is when dressing for a night out with friends last night, I asked my honey "Now tell me honestly, do I look like mutton dressed as lamb in this ?" pause for his reply "No darling. You like mutton dressed as mutton."

BAAA !
