The month that time forgot ...

"Right. Own up. Who nicked July ? Honestly, you turn your back for a second and before you know it someone's swiped an entire month .... don't know what the world's coming to ... thievin' so'n'so's"

Okay. I confess. It's not so much been stolen as mislaid. By me. I seem to have mislaid the month of July. I AM chronically untidy but this is ridiculous. Give me a sec and I'm sure I'll find it ....

Oh yeah. Here it is. We started it by bouncing up and down in London at my sister's house along with my dad and all my neices and nephews. (I'm not allowed to show pictures of the teenage one on the grounds that she's too surly in them all for public display - so you only get the 2 little ones, Aimee and my Rowan.) Bouncing in kangaroo fashion seemed a pretty appropriate way to say goodbye to my brother and his family as they head off to live in Adelaide in a week's time.

Back from that and straight into the hurly burly of the G8 protest in Stirling. Working in Stirling was kind of interesting that week. Until the awful London news blew those headlines off the map. Literally.

Barely pausing to draw breath we threw ourselves in the car and headed off for a week on my favourite Scottish island - Mull. Check out the peace of Dervaig, the village we stayed just outside .....

A week of that and we were ready for a week in the family hideaway, a seaside flat in Largs that belongs to Alan's Dad. Sunset seen from Largs can be pretty spectacular ...

Back from Largs we found ourselves in the midst of some VIP birthday celebrations which culminated at the local joust

ain't we quaint us Brits ? ....

Back to work the day after and before you know it, here we are. Practically August.

I did manage to squeeze some precious knitting time into all this tho' not as much as I would have liked :0(. But enough to make a start on this

spiralscarf.jpg

the spiral scarf from Loop-d-Loop using the Silkwood thick'n thin yarn I bought at Woolfest.

I LOVE this scarf. It is seriously funky. Expensive, as I need a second skein to finish, but so cool I have to have it. :0)))

I also made a start on this cosy project for ME

1dropstitch.jpg

the Drop-Stitch Cardigan from the Fall 2005 Interweave Knits using discontinued Jaeger Chamonix in the off-white shade - which I got for HALF PRICE in the Liberty's sale (way back at the start of July when I was in London, remember ??)

It's not the same weight as the recommended yarn but knits to the same gauge on 7mm needles. ........ Knitting confuses me sometimes.

AND to counteract all this thicky action, this morning, I started the Dolly wrapover cardigan from Jaeger for my neice, Aimee's birthday (the little dark haired bouncer who will be 4 in November)

in some lovely cornflower / lavendery blue 4 ply yarn that Jill gave me. I'm not beading the body (on account of life being too short ..... and let's face it she'd probably just eat the beads or something ...) tho' I may bead round the edges. Maybe. No promises.

And that's about it. All caught up. Roll on August. Ain't life grand ? ....
